• Description: Podology is especially important for diabetics and patients who have nerve disorders (polyneuopahty), because originatiing from the feet infections can occur. Alterations of the skin as well as pain in the feet are not as recognized within these patients based on their underlying disease.

2.) Treatment of corns

Treatment

• Description: Before the treatment, the diagnosis of a corn (clavus) is confirmed by a dermatological specialist. Corns and hyperkeratosis are mostly caused by foot malposition, prominent joint or unsuitable foot wear. Due to the mechanic pressure on the inside, the skin reacts with a punctiform hardening and hyperkeratosis of the skin, which itself causes pain when stepping on it. During the treatment of the corn, this hyperkeratosis gets mechanically removed. Due to the fact, that the original problem mainly lies underneath, the treatment has to be repeated continuously.

3.) Treatment of nail fungus

Treatment

• Description: Before the treatment a dermatological specialist makes the diagnosis of an onychomycosis and a proof of the fungus with a fungal culture or fungal-PCR is performed. For the treatment of the nail fungus the Nd:YAG laser is used. In doing so the nail plate is heated up, which destroys the fungal hyphae. In case of heavy hyperkeratosis additionally this is mechanically removed. The therapy can be accompanied with local or systemic antimycotic therapy or alternative alone, if an onychmycosis therapy with tables is not possible because of contraindications.

• eschreibung: Vor der Treatment wird die Diagnose eines Rollnagels oder eingewachsenen Zehennagels durch die Fachärztin für Dermatologie gestellt. Die Probleme und Schmerzen bei Rollnägel entstehen durch stark gekrümmte Zehennägel, welche sich in die seitliche Nagelfalz hineindrücken, entweder genetisch bedingt oder im Laufe des Lebens durch Fußfehlstellungen oder falsche Belastungen mit sekundären Veränderungen des Nagelorgans. Eingewachsene Zehennägel können ebenfalls durch verstärkte Nagelkrümmung oder falsches Schuhwerk entstehen und führen zu Schmerzen und Entzündung. Die Nagelspange ist wie eine Zahnspange, die auf den Nagel oben aufgebracht wird und die Seiten das Nagels kontinuierlich nach oben ziehen und so die Krümmung des Nagels verringern. Je nach Ausmaß der Veränderung und individuellen Aspekten wird eine Metall- und Kunstoff-Spange angebracht.
